About Mandy Wright

Enthusiasm is infectious–in a good way, and that’s what Mandy brings to every single workout at New Body Pilates. “I love the challenge of creating a workout tailored specifically for a client. Each of us has a unique body type and many of us struggle with old injuries, poor posture and alignment. I love helping people correct their muscle imbalances so they can participate in sports, gardening, walking–all the things they love in life without limits.”

Mandy, a certified Pilates instructor and fitness coach, prides herself in providing clients with a fun and challenging program. “I used to follow the old ‘no pain, no gain’ philosophy,” says Mandy, “and then I learned about Pilates which is a way of conditioning the body with a series of stretching and strengthening exercises. But the big plus is that you learn not to sweat it or stress with Pilates. Pilates is all about breath, balance, flow and harmony with as little tension in the body as possible.”

Mandy who has always been active in life with interests ranging from kick-boxing to raising three rambunctious boys has simply fulfilled a lifetime dream by opening New Body Pilates in Ojai, California. Her knowledge, hands on experience, and compassion ensure that her pilates students win. “I am conscientious and observant of what my clients’ individual needs are. What is Pilates?

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique mind-body exercise of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over ninety years ago by Joseph H. Pilates. Pilates strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility, agility and balance, unites body and mind, and creates a more streamlined shape. It can even help back pain.

I have been a personal trainer using weights and machines to gain strength for years and thought that’s what it was all about—not paying attention to my stiff lower back, my rounded shoulders or those nagging aches and pains.

By consistently practicing Pilates, I have seen and felt tremendous changes in my body and state of mind. My body transformed from being stiff and bulky (the result of weight training) to achieving a flatter abdomen, more slender thighs, a sleek, longer, leaner body and more flexibility.

Without properly caring for your body, it is impossible to feel good. Stress and fatigue often comes from poor posture, imbalances in the body, and incorrect breathing. Pilates teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. Try Pilates and see for yourself.
